SUND Roadmap 2026-2029

The strategic plan for investment in and development of selected research areas at the Faculty of Medicine (SUND) in the period 2026–2029.

About SUND Roadmap 2026-2029

The Faculty has prepared SUND Roadmap 2026-2029, which describes the faculty’s overall strategic priorities and investments in research over the next four years.

The plan comprises activities totalling DKK 84 million, which will be invested to strengthen strategically selected research environments, develop the next generation of researchers through the recruitment of early-career researchers, state-of-the-art research infrastructure, and promote interdisciplinary collaboration, including between clinical and non-clinical research environments.

SUND Roadmap is based on input from the departments, supports AAU’s new strategy, Knowledge for the World 2026-2029, and at the same time maintains the ambitions set out in SUND VISION 2030.

The funding for the ambitious plan comes primarily (DKK 64 million) from SUND’s share of the additional basic research funds allocated to AAU. The remainder comes from the faculty’s existing strategy and prioritisation fund.

Investment in research infrastructure

On the recommendation of the department management at the Department of Health Science and Technology, the Faculty has prioritised full funding for six specific pieces of research equipment.
